Wilco are listing over a dozen new items, including musical instruments and gear played on their albums, on their Reverb shop from 18 July.

Among the items up for sale from the Loft — their famous Chicago studio — are vintage guitars, Soviet-built oddities, signed posters, and mystery boxes of effects pedals.

One of the rarities that will be up for sale is a 1962 Martin F-55 from Jeff Tweedy’s personal collection. “It’s a rare bird. You don’t see these in the wild too often,” said the Loft studio manager Mark Greenberg. “I’ll be honest, I’m surprised Jeff is selling this one.”

Other offerings include Tweedy’s 1960s Framus “Big 18” double-neck electric guitar; a six-keyboard yellow Wurlitzer MKS-470; a Harmony Buck Owens H169 “American” red, white, and blue acoustic guitar; and Nels Cline’s 1950s flower-adorned lap steel by an unknown maker.

Then there are affordable vintage models with unusual character, like a Tele-style Jolana and an aluminum-body acoustic from an unknown maker. There are also several acoustics, electrics, and acoustic-electrics modded with rubber bridges (as heard a lot in recent years on songs from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and others).

Tomorrow (28 July) will release a new EP of all new material, Hot Sun Cool Shroud, just in time for the band’s Solid Sound Festival.

“It’s fun to have something new to release at Solid Sound,” said Jeff Tweedy. “This year we’re putting out an EP with a summertime-after-dark kind of feeling.

“It starts off pretty hot, like heat during the day, has some instrumentals on it that are a little agitated and uncomfortable and ends with a cooling breeze. There are tracks on Hot Sun Cool Shroud that are more aggressive and angular than anything we’ve put out in a while, and a song about love melting you like ice cream into a puddle of sugary soup. All the pieces of summer, including the broody cicadas.”
