Kate Bush Thanks Fans As ‘Running Up That Hill’ Climbs Charts
Kate Bush has thanked fans for the continued success of Running Up That Hill. Her 1985 single has become a bigger hit than it was on its initial release after it was used in the latest series of the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things.
The track has now climbed to No 2 on the Official UK Singles Chart. It was pipped to the top spot by Harry Styles’ As It Was, which has held the top spot for 10 consecutive weeks. Running Up That Hill peaked at No 3 on its original release, back then it gave Bush her highest chart position since her debut single Wuthering Heights topped the charts in 1978.

Kate shared a post on her official website thanking fans for the song’s phenomenal success:
“Running Up That Hill has just gone to No 2 in the UK charts and No. 1 in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Sweden….
How utterly brilliant! It’s hard to take in the speed at which this has all been happening since the release of the first part of the Stranger Things new series. So many young people who love the show, discovering the song for the first time.
The response to Running Up That Hill is something that has had its own energy and volition. A direct relationship between the shows and their audience and one that has stood completely outside of the music business. We’ve all been astounded to watch the track explode!
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported the song and a really special thank you to the Duffer Brothers for creating something with such heart.
All best wishes,
Kate”
Running Up That Hill has also hit No 1 in Australia, New Zealand and Lithuania. Meanwhile, it’s climbing charts worldwide – it’s currently No 3 in Ireland, Germany, and Netherlands. It has also climbed to No 1 in the the Spotify Weekly Global music chart with an estimated 8 million streams a day.
