Stormzy To Headline And Curate A Day At All Points East
Stormzy is set to headline All Points East on 18 August 2023. The rapper will also curate the Victoria Park, London, festival on that day, calling it ‘This Is What We Mean Day’.
He said in an announcement video: “I was thinking what’s next, cos we’ve done three O2s, shut that down. I said to the team, we gotta do something bigger, something better, something different. We were having back to back meetings, bouncing ideas. Then it hit me, I started jotting down ideas thinking – live band, need a live band.
“August 2023, a summer time thing, outside, for the people, always for my people. So August 2023, Victoria Park, more info coming soon….This Is What We Mean Day. Hard.”
A full line-up of artists for This Is What We Mean Day will be announced soon.
Stormzy also wrote on his Instagram, “This is my only UK show next year and I promise you it will be an EXPERIENCE. We’re taking over Victoria Park for a special day full of incredible artists and music and vibes.”
Pre-sale tickets will be available from 10am GMT on Tuesday, November 15 for those who pre-order Stormzy’s new album, This Is What I Mean, here. General sale tickets will then go on sale here from 10am GMT on Thursday, November 17.
Stormzy has also been in the news as he is heading a programme looking to “inspire change” by “addressing the lack of diversity off the pitch in football”.
A report published last month showed 43% of Premier League and 34% of English Football League players are black, but only 4.4% of managers.
New research shows people who identify as black or mixed black heritage hold 6.7% of football’s senior roles.
“We hope to inspire real change within this field,” said Stormzy. He said the initiative was “part of my wider commitment to support racial equality in the UK”.
