Radiohead Auction Off Thom Yorke’s ‘Lotus Flower’ Bowler Hat For Charity
Radiohead are auctioning off the bowler hat that frontman Thom Yorke wore in their music video for the song, Lotus Flower, which featured on their eighth studio album, The King Of Limbs. The band released no singles for the album ahead of its release, just the music video for Lotus Flower.
The hat, which Yorke wore in the video for the 2011 song, will raise money for Cahonas Scotland, a charity that raises money and awareness of testicular cancer, and educates people on detecting the illness which, if detected early, has more than a 98% cure rate.
The bowler hat is being sold on eBay by Cahonas Scotland, and the bidding is currently at £5,302, with over 80 bids and six days still to go. Thom Yorke has also signed the inside of the hat (including drawing the famous Radiohead bear logo inside the ‘o’ of his name) and it is sold with a certificate of authenticity from the charity.
Radiohead have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Their awards include six Grammy Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards. They have achieved seven top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart and have also achieved two top 40 hits on the US Billboard Hot 100, and last year they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
