“We’re Not Worthy!” Aerosmith Will Join Mike Myers And Dana Carvey for ‘Wayne’s World’ Reunion
Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry announced that they would be joining Dana Carvey and Mike Myers for a virtual Wayne’s World reunion.
The event, which takes place at 9am EST (5pm GMT) is part of actor Josh Gad’s YouTube series, Reunited Apart, in support of the First Responders Children’s Foundation, which provides support for first responders and their families who are enduring financial hardship due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Wayne’s World reunion follows on from others Josh Gad has hosted, including a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off reunion in June this year, as well as The Goonies and Back To The Future.
Wayne’s World began as a sketch on Saturday Night Live, before Mike Myers and Dan Carvey took their characters, Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar – hosts of the public-access cable television show, Wayne’s World – to the big screen. It featured iconic moments including them headbanging to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody; Meatloaf starring as a bouncer, and the pair declaring themselves “unworthy” of being in the presence of Alice Cooper.
While Aerosmith had appeared in one of the pair’s SNL sketches, they didn’t appear on film until 1993’s Wayne’s World 2, where Wayne and Garth see the band play live, before Wayne dreams he meets Jim Morrison of The Doors, who tells him to organise a festival: Waynestock.
In the film, Aerosmith perform their classic hits Dude (Looks Like A Lady) as well as Shut Up And Dance, while headlining Waynestock and performing at their own gig respectively.
You can see the teaser for the show below, as Josh Gad asks Joe Perry and Steven Tyler for help in tracking down Mike and Dana.
