Beastie Boys, Fleet Foxes, Wilco And Others Auction Customised Coolers
An array of musicians are contributing designs to cooler chests made by the company Yeti, in an auction to raise money for tour crews, in their “One For The Roadies” campaign.
Money raised will go to the charity, Crew Nation, which is a global relief fund for live music crews, who have found themselves out of work or financially struggling as Covid-19 puts concerts and live events on pause.
The auction started today (5th January), 11am EST and will end on 12th January at 11am EST, and Yeti will match all proceeds up to $100,000.
Yeti sent out over 30 of their coolers to various musicians and bands for them to personalise however they chose. Among those who have shared a design to support the cause are Ad-Rock and Mike D of Beastie Boys; Phoebe Bridgers; Mavis Staples; Billie Eilish; Brittany Howard; Brandi Carlile, Tenacious D; My Morning Jacket, and Wilco.
The musicians all took different approaches to the auction, with some, like Billie Eilish adding their logos to the cooler, while others, such as Phoebe Bridgers decorated it fully, adding stickers and drawings. Both Tenacious D and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy included drawings of yetis.
The coolers have been signed by each of the artists, and many of them come loaded with merchandise and extra treats.
As of today, the highest bids are on My Morning Jacket at $3,333, Social Distortion at $2,500, Phoebe Bridgers at $2,021 and Beastie Boys at $2,000.
This is the second round of the “One For The Roadies” campaign, with the first taking place in August 2020 and raising over $135,000 in support for out-of-work touring and venue crews. In the first auction, artists who designed coolers included The National, Green Day, Leon Bridges, and Margo Price.
Fans can see the full range of designs and bid on the coolers on the auction site. You can find out more about the charity Crew Nation, here
