“VEGAS BABY! So excited to headline the all-new @VoltaireLV at @VenetianVegas starting this fall. See you there!” the 55-year-old wrote on Instagram alongside a promotional video for the residency.
Additionally, Kylie stated in a news conference in Los Angeles, “I’ve performed a couple of times at Vegas, but as part of a tour, and particularly when I did the Showgirl tour in 2004 – at that time we said, ‘oh, this feels like a Vegas show’.”
Kylie said that the events would be smaller than the typical Las Vegas shows, as they will take place in a 1,000-seat venue, offering her fans a more personal experience.
The theme of the show is Belle de Nuit, described in a press release as “evocative of veils and mystery, of come to play and dress to express”. But there are few further details about the residency at present, beyond a tease of costumes from a designer who has worked with Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Minogue, and an evening with an “unforgettably glamorous lens”, as well as caviar and cookies on offer.
“I want it to be the kind of essence of what a Kylie show has become, enough glamour and abandon. I’ve got some versions of songs that have not been heard, like reinterpretations of songs, which is exciting. Live bed dances, amazing costumes,” she said in an official statement.
The concerts will reportedly include tracks from her upcoming album Tension, which will be released in September, as well as some of her greatest hits, including Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around.
Anticipation is high for Tension, which is set for release on 22 September, and was led by the single Padam Padam in May. The track has been cited by many publications and critics as one of the songs of the summer. It is a mainstream hit – peaking at No 8 in the UK – and a cult obsession particularly among Minogue’s longstanding LGBTQ+ fanbase who successfully petitioned BBC Radio 1 to add the track to its playlist after initial resistance that many interpreted was due to Minogue’s age, at 55. Minogue has called the album “a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high”.
The residency is set to kick off on 3 November and is expected to include around 12 shows. Further details will be released in the near future.
