Cliff Richard Releases New Orchestral Version Of ‘The Young Ones’: Listen

The first single from his upcoming album Cliff With Strings – My Kinda Life continues the celebration of Cliff’s 65 years in the music business. The track is available to stream and download now, while the album will be available digitally and via CD on 3 November, with the record out on vinyl on 24 November.
The Young Ones was first released on 11 January 1962 with the track (recorded for the film of the same name) rocketing to the top of the charts, becoming his fifth No 1 single and remained top of the charts for six weeks. More than six decades later, it has been reworked and reimagined in a contemporary yet classic style, featuring a stunning orchestral arrangement by Chris Walden.
Cliff Richard said: “What better way to celebrate this milestone in my career, than revisiting one of my earliest hits. This was an incredible time in my life, as this is the title track from my third film The Young Ones, which was the second biggest film of that year and a role that I loved to play. I am so grateful to all the fans that have stuck with me for all these years and that this song makes me feel as young as I was then.”
Cliff With Strings – My Kinda Life is a career-spanning, hit-packed collection recorded with a full orchestra and featuring tracks from seven decades of his career.
The album includes his first UK No 1 single, Living Doll (1959), as well as other No 1 hits Summer Holiday and We Don’t Talk Anymore. Also featuring Wired for Sound, Carrie, My Kinda Life and The Best of Me (Cliff’s 100th single), the collection brings new life and clarity to original vocal recordings with beautiful new orchestral and string arrangements.
The record also includes Cliff Richard’s touching duet Suddenly with the late great Olivia Newton-John, as well as 1993’s Peace In Our Time, and the very rare recording from 1999 of of Everything I Do (I Do It For You) at his Millenium Countdown concert. The track has only ever been available on the DVD release of the concert.
