Tina Turner’s Iconic First Four Solo Albums Make Debut On Streaming Platforms
Tina Turner’s first four solo albums have been released to digital streaming platforms for the first time.
The albums that marked the genesis of Tina’s legendary solo career – Tina Turns the Country On! (1974), Acid Queen (1975), Rough (1978), and Love Explosion (1979) – are now making their worldwide digital debut, in line with celebrations of Tina Turner’s iconic 50-year solo career and the release of new career-spanning 55-track anthology Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll which sees all of Tina Turner singles released on one set for the first time on 24. November as triple-CD and 5LP sets, digitally, as well as a cut-back 12 track vinyl version.
Tina Turns the Country On! marked Tina’s solo debut whilst still touring and releasing albums as duo Ike & Tina Turner Revue, showcasing her versatility and setting the stage for a remarkable solo journey. Acid Queen followed, and featured standout tracks like the title song and incredible cover of Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love which was her first single and kicks off the new Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll set.
Rough and Love Explosion continued to demonstrate Tina’s dynamic range, with the former featuring singles Viva La Money and Root, Toot, Undisputable Rock ‘n’ Roller, the latter embracing the disco era with infectious tracks like Music Keeps Me Dancin’.
Now, with these albums available on digital streaming platforms, fans can rediscover the energy and prowess that defined Tina Turner’s early solo years and years to come. This digital release is a celebration of Tina’s enduring influence and an invitation to explore the musical journey of one of the greatest artists of all time.
During her career, Tina sold over 200 million records, had ten UK top ten hit singles and nine UK top 10 albums and was the first female artist to have a top 40 hit in six consecutive decades in the UK. Her albums combined are 20x platinum in the UK and 9x platinum in the US whilst also achieving huge sales throughout the rest of the world. She won eight Grammy Awards and was nominated for 25 in all.
