David Bowie, Pink Floyd Ranked Among UK’s Best-Selling Vinyl Artists In New Report
A new report has revealed that David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd all rank among the UK’s best-selling vinyl artists.
The report, compiled by record shop, Dig In Records, analysed annual best-selling vinyl charts from 2011 to 2022 to unveil new insights that offer a fresh look at the artists and albums that are standing the test of time.
Leading the pack with an impressive 23 appearances on the annual vinyl sales charts is the British indie rock giants, Arctic Monkeys. Their magnetic sound and captivating lyrics have resonated with fans, propelling their albums to consistent year-on-year vinyl success.
With the Yorkshire quartet coming out top on the best-selling vinyl list, The Beatles claimed second place with 16 appearances. In close pursuit are legendary acts like David Bowie, Nirvana, and Oasis, each securing 14 appearances.
Other notable artists include Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd, each with 13 appearances, and the emotive voices of Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley & The Wailers, and Queen, each with 8 appearances.
Indie favourites such as The Stone Roses are also frequent attendees of best-selling vinyl lists with seven appearances, while Radiohead and The Smiths take five each. Meanwhile, contemporary superstars such as Taylor Swift and Adele have made their impact on vinyl with six and five appearances, respectively.
