Gallagher posted a video of Squire plying guitar, including the moment Squire joined Oasis onstage at Knebworth in 1996. The video features an audio clip of Gallagher saying, “John Squire without a doubt the best guitarist of his generation and in the world in my opinion.”
The singer also shared the link to a new website, gallaghersquire.com. The site’s landing page features both artists’ names at the top and gives fans the opportunity to sign up for their mailing list in order to receive more information.
Rumours of a collaboration between the two Mancunians started last June, when Gallagher referenced Oasis’ massive 1997 shows by bringing out Squire for his own Knebworth shows to perform Champagne Supernova. “Super group incoming LG JS,” read one of Gallagher’s tweets at the time.
Then last September, during an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, Gallagher confirmed that the pair are “definitely” going to work together. In response to Wilkinson’s request for an update, Gallagher said: “Yeah. Serious, man. But we’ve got things to do first, and he’s got things to clear up and that. But yeah, I’m definitely going to do summat at some point.”
And the following month, Gallagher posted on his X/Twitter account that the pair’s joint LP will be “the best record since Revolver”, in reference to The Beatles’ groundbreaking 1966 album.
