Earlier this month, the band released a teaser clip which showed frontwoman Hayley Williams collecting a package, in which she finds Talking Heads frontman David Byrne‘s iconic oversized suit which he wore in Stop Making Sense, the band’s concert film.
Williams then turns to her bandmates to say: “I’ve got a tape I’d like to play you,” the same thing that Byrne says while introducing the song Psycho Killer in the film. Paramore’s cover of the track serves as the background audio in the teaser.
Meanwhile, SZA has confirmed that a collaboration with Paramore is “in the works”. In an interview shared on Apple Music’s TikTok yesterday (30 January), she was asked about the chances of her working with the band. “Yeah,” she replied, enthusiastically. “Soon, soon! It’s in the works.”
Paramore’s Hayley Williams has already said that she was texting SZA “weekly” about working together while appearing on a podcast last August. “SZA has, for about six years now, been the one… I think Garden is my favourite song by SZA. But also, all of her records, they’re records you can put on and [have] no skips for me.”
Last year, Talking Heads’ 1983 classic concert film Stop Making Sense was remastered in 4k through A24 in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The much-loved innovators also reunited for a Q&A back in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, which marked their first public appearance together in over 20 years.
This week, it was revealed that Talking Heads reportedly turned down $80million for reunion shows from Coachella and Live Nation.
