Cher, Oasis, Mariah Carey Among Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees
Cher, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne and Mariah Carey are among the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2024.
There are also nominations for Sinead O’Connor, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Jane’s Addiction and A Tribe Called Quest. Other finalists include Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Eric B. & Rakim, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang, and Lenny Kravitz.
The winners will be announced in late April, and a formal induction into the Hall will take place in Cleveland this autumn.
An international voting body of more than 1000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry, as well as a fan vote, will determine who will be inducted.
Last year, Kate Bush and George Michael were among the artists who were be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony.
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said: “This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honours and celebrates.”
Cher, who has been previously nominated but never inducted, said last year she would not join even if they paid her “a million dollars”.
“I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.” She added.
Back in December, at 77 years, 7 months old, Cher became the oldest solo female performer to secure a Top 40 on the Official Singles Chart with the lead single from her 27th studio album Christmas.
Ozzy Osborne is already in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his career with Black Sabbath, but this nomination is for his solo work.
If successful this year, he will become the 27th multiple inductee and join an elite group of artists including all four members of The Beatles, Stevie Nicks and Tina Turner.
Ozzy said he was “deeply honoured” and the nomination was something he “could never have imagined”.
