Cher On Her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction: ‘I’m Going To Have Some Words To Say’
Cher has spoken publicly about her upcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for the first time.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show late last year, the singer stated that she would never join the Hall of Fame if they offered. “I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars,” she said. “I’m never going to change my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.”
Since then, she has been announced as one of the 2024 inductees to the hall, and has suggested she will attend the ceremony. “I can thank David Geffen, my friend and most wonderful person ever, and John Sikes,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m going to have some words to say. I’m going to accept it as me.”
Cher was speaking at the premiere of Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, the documentary about her longtime costume designer. “I’m excited to be here because he’s been such a gigantic part of my life,” she said. “[He’s] responsible for some of my success, I would say he really started me on a road that at that point nobody was doing it. And he always just gave me the confidence… I never felt naked the whole time I was working [with him].”
Cher was also asked whether a sequel to her hit film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was in the works. The star revealed that creator and producer “Judy [Craymer] just won’t leave me alone,” suggesting there’s more to come from the ABBA-related series.
