Jeff Tweedy Announces North American Solo Tour Dates

Chicago-based singer-songwriter Elizabeth Moen will support Tweedy for all of the October dates. Prior to the tour, Tweedy will make two special appearances in the greater Chicagoland area in September by participating in an In Conversation Series at the Evanston Folk Festiva land playing a solo music performance at Navy Pier’s Chicago Live!
Tweedy will also be part of the Cayamo Cruise, a seven-day musical celebration on the seas that also includes Emmylou Harris and Grace Potter on the line-up.
The tour announcement comes hot on the heels of Wilco‘s Solid Sound Festival and the release of their new EP, Hot Sun Cool Shroud. “It’s fun to have something new to release at Solid Sound,” Tweedy said of the EP. “This year we’re putting out an EP with a summertime-after-dark kind of feeling.
“It starts off pretty hot, like heat during the day, has some instrumentals on it that are a little agitated and uncomfortable and ends with a cooling breeze. There are tracks on Hot Sun Cool Shroud that are more aggressive and angular than anything we’ve put out in a while, and a song about love melting you like ice cream into a puddle of sugary soup. All the pieces of summer, including the broody cicadas.”
