Rumours of a collaboration on the track from her hit album brat were fuelled by a voice note that Dua posted to her socials of her speaking in Spanish, saying “Charli, Troye, un gran besito para ti. Mwah,” which translates to “Charli, Troye, a big kiss for you, mwah!”.
Speculation heated up when Charli posted a video of herself with Troye Sivan dancing to what sounded like a remix of Talk Talk.
Now Charli has confirmed the release with an Instagram post of cover artwork for the single and the caption, “Talk talk featuring troye sivan – Out in 24 hrs.” She then added a follow-up to her Instagram stories clarifying Dua’s role, saying, “Also thank you Dua Lipa for speaking French and Spanish on the track!”
It’s the latest big news in a hugely successful summer for the star following the release of her hit album, brat. In a recent interview with New York magazine, she reflected on the conversations she had with her record label, Atlantic, before releasing brat. “I was like, ‘I’m going to make a record that you guys think has no commercial hits on it. Or big songs. Or radio songs. Or streaming songs or whatever,’” she recalls. “‘But you need to realize that that doesn’t fucking matter. We don’t live in that world anymore, and I’m not that artist.’
“I’ve never seen my music as particularly niche,” the singer went on. “There’s plenty of room for the avant-garde on a commercial level in pop music.”
