Bryan shared a pair of posts to Instagram on Wednesday (15 January) morning teasing new projects. In the first, he shared a clip of a new track seemingly titled “Birdie”, along with a lyric from the song (“don’t mean to play your favorite cover, of between the bars”) that references Elliott Smith.
The second post finds Bryan enlisting the help of McConaughey (who previously starred in Bryan’s Nine Ball music video in 2024) to announce what appears to be an upcoming film. Last November, Bryan shared a clip of a song which appeared to also be titled Motorbreath.
“This is not a film about a band, this is a film about a boy from Oklahoma,” McConaughey explains. “A boy who joined the Navy, with a love of writing. That writing connected with people, a lot of people. This film is about a group of best friends taking a two-week motorcycle ride across America, while recording one final major label album. Oh, and the title of the film, you ask? Motorbreath.”
Bryan is currently working on the follow-up to his fifth studio album, 2024’s The Great American Bar Scene. Taking to social media back in October, Bryan previewed an unreleased song seemingly called All Good Things Past with the cryptic caption, “that Oklahoman, popsicle frozen, empties on a burnpile”. The previous day, Bryan had shared another clip of a work in progress, a piano ballad with the caption, “Rockaway – Recall when we, went to Rockaway Beach, summer heat in eastern Queens, and a subway ride.”
Bryan also recently announced two massive shows in London’s Hyde Park for summer 2025.
