Watch: ‘Milestones: Tina Turner’ – A Celebration Of An Amazing Life

Dig! is proud to present Milestones: Tina Turner, the first in new series of video biographies that celebrate the remarkable lives of some of the greatest musical artists of our times. The new video, narrated by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Matt Everitt, is released to mark the news that Tina Turner has won the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Fan Vote and will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame in the ceremony to be held later this year.

The video underlines the incredible journey undertaken by Turner, from humble beginnings – born Anna Mae Bullock on 26 November 1939 in Nutbush – to finding fame as part of the explosive duo Ike & Tina Turner, before finding a whole new level of success as a solo performer in the 80s and beyond.

This year has seen the release of Tina, the critically acclaimed, career-spanning documentary that Turner, who retired from touring in 2009, envisioned as a farewell to her enormous fanbase. The film has sparked new interest in the life of the perennially successful singer with its uncompromising look at her incredible bravery in the face of the challenges she has faced throughout her life, as well as thrilling live footage that serves as a reminder of her onstage power.

Should the support of her fans be recognised by the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, Turner would be inducted in a ceremony on 30 October, held at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Field House. This year’s 16-strong list of nominations features Mary J Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Chaka Khan, Carole King, Fela Kuti, LL Cool J, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Todd Rundgren, Dionne Warwick and Tina Tuner.
