Teddy Swims is among the first wave of performers announced for this year’s BRIT Awards, set to take place at The O2, London, on Saturday 1 March.

The other acts announced for the ceremony so far are JADE, Shaboozey, The Last Dinner Party and Myles Smith, who has already been named the winner of the Rising Star award.

Swims’ global hit single Lose Control is nominated for International Song of the Year, another accolade in an incredible breakthrough year for the US star.

According to midweek charts, Swims is currently ahead in the race for this week’s UK No 1 album, with with I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2). It would be Swims’ first UK album if he manage to fend off strong competition from Central Cee’s debut album CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS and FKA Twigs’ EUSEXUA.

Swims recently spoke to Billboard about the evolution of his sound on the new album, which features Coco Jones, GloRilla, Giveon and Muni Long. “Whatever’s good feels good, and if things are leaning R&B, instead of being afraid, just lean all the way into it — and if it feels good, it feels good,” he said. “This record, it’s a little bit all over the place, but I think the cohesiveness of it is that it’s good, it’s real and it’s authentically me.”

He also spoke about the albums’ lyrics: “Once you get out of that negative situation and that heartbreak, on the other side of it there is healing. There’s unlearning old habits and ways you think, and there’s falling in love again, and having a baby, and being Grammy-nominated … This is a perfect closure on ‘it does get better,’ and it will get better.”

Following his breakthrough success in 2024 Swims is also nominated for best new artist at this year’s Grammy Awards alongside Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey and Benson Boone. He was full of praise when talking about his rivals for the gong, “I say this everywhere I get asked about this: I think this is the best year for new artists ever. I’m so lucky to be a part of this conversation with some of these incredible artists who are absolutely legacy artists. I don’t think any of these people are flashes in the pan.”
