Billie Joe Armstrong To Feature In Miley Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve Party
Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson are set to ring in the New Year’s Eve party on NBC. And they’re bringing friends. An all-star lineup will perform at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, including Brandi Carlile, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Saweetie, Anitta, Jack Harlow, 24kGoldn and Kitty Ca$h, organizers have announced.
The network also promises “more surprises to come” in the lead-up to the NYE party.
Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party will be broadcast live from Miami on the night of 31 December from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET on NBC. Viewers will also be able to livestream the festivities on Peacock, the network’s streaming service.
As previously reported, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels is executive producer.
In the new trailer for Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, the pair workshop ideas for the show, some bad, and some really bad. Check it out below.
The big party will serve as a warm-up for what’s bound to be a big year for Miley. She’s slated to perform at the 2022 Super Bowl Music Fest as well as headline Lollapalooza’s Argentinian and Brazilian iterations alongside Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Doja Cat, A$AP Rocky and Martin Garrix.
Elsewhere in Green Day news, the band spent last week celebrating the 30th anniversary of their second album, Kerplunk!, on social media. Kerplunk! laid the foundations for their breakthrough album, 1994’s Dookie, and was their last for independent label Lookout! Records.
Reflecting on the band’s success, Lookout!’s Larry Livermore wrote: “What made me so sure? Part of it was just a gut instinct, the same sort of feeling that had prompted me to ask Green Day (still Sweet Children at the time, strictly speaking) to do a record within minutes of seeing them play for five teenagers in a candlelit cabin in the middle of a mountain wilderness.
“Billie and Mike were only 16 at the time, and their then-drummer, Al Sobrante was all of 18. It was only their third or fourth show ever, but there was no doubt in my mind that their music was ready for the world. It might have taken the world a little while to catch on, but three years later, it felt like that was about to happen.”
