Camila Cabello Performs Solo Version Of ‘Bam Bam’ On SNL
Camila Cabello was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night. She performed a solo version of her Ed Sheeran collaboration ‘Bam Bam’ alongside a troupe of neon-clad dancers. She also brought out Willow for a live version of Psychofreak, which appears on Cabello’s new LP, Familia.
In an interview with TikTok to celebreate the release of Famila, Cabello exclaimed, “Wowzer! Familia is finally out,” before admitting that “this album means so much to me.“
“The journey to making it completely changed (me) and, not to be dramatic, saved my life,” she added. “Y’know, I started this album at a really shitty mental health point and the process of making it, and being vulnerable and being honest about my experiences and leaning on other people changed my life.”
In a recent interview with NME, Cabello explanded upon her frame of mind while making the album, “I have to really be mindful of my mental health and do a lot of meditation and read positive affirmations and read inspiring things. I have to check on myself – like, ‘ugh, I feel really negative’, or, ‘Ugh, I feel really like I’m not being kind to myself today’. I think you have to be really aware of what your thoughts are because it affects everything.”
And speaking to Reuters, Camila revealed the song Physcofreak featuring Willow Smith is about her departure from the girl group Fifth Harmony. In the song Camila sings: “Everybody says they miss the old me / I been on this ride since I was 15 / I don’t blame the girls for how it went down, down.” Camila said: “That song is basically about anxiety and all of the different things that have made up, like, my journey with anxiety and starting off really young in the industry. We have been, like, supportive of each other through, like, DMs and stuff,” she told the news agency. “I’m, like, in a really good place with them.”
