Daft Punk

Few bands can boast of having their music performed by a military band for Bastille Day, or of having a species of flatworm named after them… but then Daft Punk’s sphere of influence is broader than most.

First formed in 1993, the playful Parisian electronic duo comprising Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel De Homem-Christo scored some glorious successes during the course of a spectacularly diverse career spanning over 25 years. Catchy and cutting-edge, their early albums Homework and Discovery yielded both critical acclaim and commercial success; James Murphy’s LCD Soundsystem famously paid tribute with the Grammy-nominated Daft Punk Is Playing At My House, and the duo later made a splash of their own at the Grammys, taking home no less than three awards for 2013’s Random Access Memories. Bangalter and De Homem-Christo recently announced their split, but as their stellar CV also includes everything from production work for Kanye West to Billboard chart-topping collaborations with The Weeknd, Daft Punk can sign off safe in the knowledge that their legacy is assured.
