Paramore

Originally hailing from Franklin, Tennessee, Paramore have continually displayed their ability to adapt and embrace change during an eventful career which has produced some of the most exciting – and enduring – alt-rock records of the 21st century.

Led by the unstoppable creative vision of vocalist Hayley Williams, this Midwest outfit have an inherent knack for turning trauma to triumph. Recorded for Atlantic Records offshoot Fueled By Ramen, the group’s 2005 debut album, All We Know Is Falling, was inspired by the sudden departure of bassist Jeremy Davis, though he was back in the fold for 2007’s Riot!: a refinement of Paramore’s early angsty pop-punk sound which yielded a trio of successful singles (including one of the best Paramore songs of all time, Misery Business) and platinum sales.

With long-term guitarist Taylor York on board and Green Day producer Rob Cavallo (Dookie, American Idiot) manning the console, Paramore’s radio-friendly third album, Brand New Eyes (2009), shot to No.2 in the US and ensured the group continued on an upward trajectory. To their credit, the band have continued to break new ground ever since – and they’ve brought their audience with them. Ushering in funk-rock and acoustic flavours, Paramore’s self-titled 2013 album topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, while the synth-pop stylings of 2017’s After Laughter nestled in Top 10s around the world. In 2023, Williams and co returned refreshed from a hiatus, throwing pleasing, post-punk-inspired shapes around on arguably their best album to date, This Is The Way.
