Midweek charts from the Official Charts Company suggest Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night could get a massive boost back into the Top 5 this week, thanks to the release of Greta Gerwig’s movie. Dance The Night – the lead single from the film’s soundtrack – is predicted to rise 10 places to No 5.
Barbie’s release could also see Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj & Aqua’s Barbie World jump up and reach a new peak of No 11.
Meanwhile, Dave & Central Cee are going nowhere. Sprinter is ahead of the competition for an eighth week at No 1.
Dance The Night was produced by Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and the Picard Brothers. The video includes a cameo from Gerwig. Dance The Night was co-written by Lipa, Wyatt, Caroline Ailin, and Ronson.
The opening weekend for Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has seen its ticket sales overtake that for the opening weekend of blockbuster Super Mario Bros, making Barbie the biggest film of 2023 so far. The movie took $155 million in the US and $337m (£293m) worldwide. This made it the biggest opening weekend ever for a film directed by a woman.
