Details of Charli’s role in the movie have yet to be revealed. It’s the latest big news in a hugelu successful summer for the star following the release of her hit album, brat. In a recent interview with New York magazine, she reflected on the conversations she had with her record label, Atlantic, before releasing brat. “I was like, ‘I’m going to make a record that you guys think has no commercial hits on it. Or big songs. Or radio songs. Or streaming songs or whatever,’” she recalls. “‘But you need to realize that that doesn’t fucking matter. We don’t live in that world anymore, and I’m not that artist.’

“I’ve never seen my music as particularly niche,” she went on. “There’s plenty of room for the avant-garde on a commercial level in pop music.”
