Charli XCX Shares New Song From ‘Barbie’ OST: Listen
Charli XCX has shared a new song, Speed Drive, taken from Barbie The Album, the soundtrack to the forthcoming Greta Gerwig film Barbie. It was produced by Charli XCX’s frequent collaborator Easyfun. Listen below.
Speed Drive follows tracks from PinkPantheress (Angel), Karol G and Aldo Ranks (Watati) and Dua Lipa (Dance The Night), who will also appear in the film. Last week, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice shared the RiotUSA-produced single Barbie World, a reinterpretation of Aqua’s Barbie Girl. Barbie The Album is due out 21 July 21, the same day Barbie The Movie hits cinemas.
Recently Charli XCX revealed that a collaboration with Robyn is in the works. “Me and Robyn been making songs in the studio. happy pride,” Charli posted on Twitter. Patrick Berger – producer of Charli’s breakthrough hit Boom Clap and Robyn’s classic single Dancing On My Own – looks to be at the helm for the project, as he posted a photograph of himself with the pair captioned, “Thank you for a great day in the studio. And thank you for my entire career basically.”
Barbie The Movie will be released in cinemas on Friday 21 July, and the soundtrack is out the same day. Additional contributors to the soundtrack include Lizzo, Tame Impala, Karol G, Gayle, Khalid, Ice Spice, and Haim.
