In the extended, co-directed by Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore, Van Dyke is seen singing with Cold play frontman Chris Martin, dancing and speaking about old age, family and love. A shorter version of the video will be released on 13 December to coincide with Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.

“I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me, I’m not afraid of it,” Van Dyke says in the video. “I have that feeling totally against anything intellectual I have, that I’m going to be alright.”

Speaking about his career, he continues: “I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living, to do what I would’ve done anyway. When you think how lucky I am, I got to do what I do, play and act silly.”

Van Dyke’s career has spanned more than seven decades and earned him an array of awards including Primetime and Daytime Emmys and a Grammy for the Mary Poppins soundtrack. He has been inducted into the Television Hall Of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Coldplay’s latest album, Moon Music, also features the recent singles We Pray, feelslikeimfallinginlove and The Karate Kid. Each vinyl copy of the album – produced by Max Martin – is made out of nine recycled PET-plastic bottles that have been recovered from waste, which will prevent the manufacture of more than 25 metric tonnes of virgin plastic, and provide an 85% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional 140g vinyl.

Earlier in the year, the band’s frontman Chris Martin recently made the news after an interview with Apple Music in which he claimed the band have a plan to call it a day after two more albums. They also sold out a record-breaking 10 nights at London’s Wembley Stadium and two nights at Hull’s Craven Park. See dates below.
