The Darkness have shared the latest taste of their new album Dreams On Toast courtesy of the song Rock And Roll Party Cowboy which you can hear below.

The Justin Hawkins-led band are preparing to release their eighth studio album on 28 March via Cooking Vinyl. They have already previewed it with the singles I Hate Myself and The Longest Kiss.

Now, they have channelled the stomping classic rock of bands such as ZZ Top, Motorhead and Judas Priest on Rock And Roll Party Cowboy, which features expressive guitar solos and theatrical vocals.

Revealing more about the track, Hawkins has said: “People recognise me as astronaut pirate movie star cool and that’s obviously accurate. What they may have overlooked though, is that I am also ROCK AND ROLL PARTY COWBOY cool… which is a good 15 percent cooler!!! I think you’ll recognise that in the first listen.”

“You know that thing when God’s breath tickles your soul and tells you to create? Yeah, makes me giggle too. But you can’t resist,” Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins said of the band’s new album Dreams On Toast in a press statement. “God might not be the power she once was, but say what you like about her, she knows damn well that what the world needs now, is rock sweet rock. And who are we, mere mortals of extraordinary ability, to argue with the divine?

“So we knuckled down and thought really hard about the best of the best, the elite songs, the life-changing music of the ages. Then we popped out a dozen bangers before lunch. And these bangers we present to you here, wallowing in an aromatic aural ragu, served atop the charred remains of our envious contemporaries.”

The Darkness are also set to embark on a UK headline tour in March, with the trek kicking off on 6 March in Ipswich’s Regent’s Theatre and running all the way to a climactic show at the OVO Arena Wembley in London on 29 March. They will then go on to tour around Europe, and they will also make an appearance at Download Festival 2025 this summer.

In other news, Hawkins is due to appear on The Stylistics’ first new album in nearly two decades. He contributed to the upcoming record’s opening and title track, Falling In Love With My Girl.
