Eric Clapton has announced a short tour of the UK and Ireland. The six-date run will commence on 9 May 2024 at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle, then make stops in Liverpool, Birmingham and Dublin before wrapping up with a pair of shows at Clapton’s traditional London home, the Royal Albert Hall, on 20 and 21 May. Full details below.
Pre-order The Definitive 24 Nights.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am on 9 June 2023, and will be available from Ticketmaster (for the Dublin show) or via Bookings Direct (all other shows).
The announcement comes as Warner Records is set to release The Definitive 24 Nights: a limited edition boxed set of Clapton< performing at the legendary Royal Albert Hall on 23 June. The Definitive 24 Nights will be available on limited edition boxed sets as either 6-CDs or 8-LPs on June 23. Both versions come with three Blu-ray discs for the video content, a hardbound book, and an individually numbered lithograph featuring a photograph of Clapton by Carl Studna.
Standalone versions of the individual concerts – 24 Nights: Rock, 24 Nights: Blues, and 24 Nights: Orchestral – will be released the same day in 2CD+DVD and 3LP (Rock and Orchestral) and 2LP (Blues) configurations.
Clapton first played at the Royal Albert Hall with The Yardbirds in 1964, and has since performed more than 200 times at the venue, more than any other artist. He also holds the record for the longest run of concerts at the venue. He set it in 1990 with 18 shows, then broke it the following year with 24 concerts. They were some of the most ambitious shows of Clapton’s career. Each night featured him performing a career-spanning set with one of three lineups – a rock band, a blues band, or an orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen.
