Gang Of Four’s signature style, a mix of punk, funk, dub and radical politics is iconic, and they are hailed as one of the most influential groups of their time. Their songwriting resonates with generations of musicians and writers, from the likes of Kurt Cobain, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and R.E.M’s Michael Stipe, and their music has been sampled by artists including Run the Jewels and Frank Ocean.
Prior to the London date, the band be playing a North American farewell tour which kicks off in Boston on 20 April before embarking across the United States and Canada. After making stops in major cities like Toronto, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, and Los Angeles, Gang of Four will wrap up that leg with a show in San Diego on 29 May.
Gang of Four’s Entertainment! has also been a staple of Best Albums of all time lists, from Pitchfork to Rolling Stone. “2025 will be the 45th anniversary of the release of Entertainment! and will be our final year as a band” says Gang of Four. “It’s been wonderful, but all things must end. We want to go out with a bang and celebrate with our fans and friends. So, on what will be our last London show, we’ll play two sets at each show: Entertainment! from start to finish in the first, and the best of the rest in the second. Come and join in, it’ll be a blast!”
Four years ago, Gang of Four’s steely guitarist and co-founder Andy Gill died following a “short respiratory illness.” The band released three records since then featuring the late Gill: the 2020 EPs This Heaven Gives Me Migraines and Anti Hero, and the long-awaited box set 77-81.
