Mitchell will now perform two consecutive shows at the historic venue on the 19 and 20 October. The performances will feature Brandi Carlile and her Joni Jam band. A previous Joni Jam show at Washington’s Gorge Amphitheatre featured Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan, Marcus Mumford, Wynonna Judd, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Lucius and more.
The shows will be Mitchell’s first Los Angeles headlining performances for over 24 years. A pre-sale for the new show starts today at 10 am PST with password JJAM24. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday 2 February at 10 am PST.
The announcement comes days after the news that Mitchell will perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards this weekend (Sunday 4 February).
Though Mitchell has been nominated for 18 Grammys over the course of her career, it’ll be her first performance at the ceremony. The other artists set to take the stage at the 2024 Grammys are: Burna Boy, Luke Combs, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Travis Scott, and U2, the latter of whom will be performing from the Sphere in Las Vegas.
Mitchell is nominated for Best Folk Album at the 2024 Grammys for Joni Mitchell at Newport (Live), which captures her remarkable surprise comeback performance at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival. She has won nine competitive Grammys across her career, with the first coming in 1970 for Best Folk Performance for her second album Clouds, and the the most recent arriving in 2022 for Best Historical Album for Archives, Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963-1967).
