Liam Gallagher Set For No 1 Album With ‘C’Mon You Know’
Liam Gallagher is on course to claim his fourth UK solo No 1 album with C’Mon You Know.
The former Oasis frontman is currently outselling the competition with his third solo studio album, having previously topped the Official Albums Chart with 2017’s As You Were, his 2019 release Why Me? Why Not and the 2020 live LP, MTV Unplugged.
Liam also looks set to claim two Top 5 albums simultaneously this week as Down By The River Thames, a recording of his December 2020 lockdown livestream, is currently No 3 in the midweek chart.
This weekend Liam will perform to 160,000 people across two shows at Knebworth, gigs that come just under 26 years since Oasis sold out two legendary nights at the same venue. Kasabian will be lead support on both nights, while Paolo Nutini, Amyl And The Sniffers, Michael Kiwanuka, Fat White Family and Goat Girl will play across the two nights.
When asked by The Guardian in a recent interview about his memories of playing Knebworth with Oasis, Liam recalled, “I remember flying in on the helicopter, thinking: ‘Look at all those fields. How come there’s no one in them? Surely we could have played to 5 million people, not 250,000.’ We’d been on tour and were match fit, so I wasn’t nervous. Now that I’m 25 years older, my nerves are more that you want it to go well and you want everyone to have a good time. But going on stage and being me is a doddle.”
When asked whether his solo success had surprised him, Liam said, “Playing Knebworth again at 50 I didn’t see coming. I didn’t think I’d be selling out big gigs like that again.”
