A collective of around 1,000 musicians including members of Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout and others are set to get together to pay tribute to Linkin Park at a huge show in Birmingham later this year.

Taking place at the the Birmingham Utilita Arena on 18 August, the show is being put on by the Uprawr Foundation, a local charity founded by an alternative club night in the city to raise money to help provide free mental health counselling and services to the alternative community.

The show has been christened ‘1,000 Lights’ in reference to Linkin Park’s final album One More Light. Indeed, the Utilita Arena was the last place late frontman Chester Bennington performed before he took his own life in 2017 at the age of 41.

The Birmingham will also feature talks and video messages from famous faces in the alternative music world as well as a performance from tribute band Linkin P4rk.

Musicians can sign up to participate and will be tasked with fundraising for the charity via JustGiving. Whoever raises the most will earn a spot to perform in the show.

Last year, to mark its 20th anniversary, Linkin Park’s ground-breaking second album, Meteora, was reissued on 7 April in multiple formats: Limited Edition Super Deluxe Box Set, 4 LP Deluxe Vinyl Box Set, 3-disc Deluxe CD and digital: all containing a wealth of previously unreleased or rare tracks.

Among the unreleased tracks were several gems previously unknown to Linkin Park fans, including Lost — a fully realized track from the 2002 album recording sessions featuring stunning vocals from late frontman Chester Bennington.

The band’s Mike Shinoda said: “Finding Lost was like finding a favorite photo you had forgotten you’d taken, like it was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.”

Meteora was first released in March 2023 and included the global hit singles Somewhere I Belong, Faint, Numb, Breaking The Habit and From The Inside. The album has sold over 8 million copies in the US and has been certified multi-platinum, platinum or gold in 15 different territories.
