Lizzo, ‘Stranger Things’, Adele Win Big At 2022 Creative Arts Emmys
Lizzo, Stranger Things, The Beatles and Adele led the winners at this year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were held over the weekend.
Lizzo’s Amazon Prime Video reality series Watch Out For The Big Grrrls won two awards, for Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program (Nneka Onuorah) and Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Reality Or Competition Program.
Netflix‘s Stranger Things picked up the prize for Outstanding Music Supervision. Series music supervisor Nora Felder won the award for the episode Chapter Four: Dear Billy, which includes Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill. The song 1985 surged in popularity this summer after being used throughout the fourth season of Stranger Things. Other nominees for Music Supervision this year included Euphoria, Better Call Saul, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Ozark.

Elsewhere, Peter Jackson’s Disney+ docuseries The Beatles: Get Back picked up five awards as did Adele’s CBS concert special Adele: One Night at Only at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr shared the win as co-producers of the documentary – making them both one Tony Award away from achieving EGOT status. EGOT, an acronym for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards, is the designation given to people who have won all four of those awards. R
This year’s Superbowl Halftime Show featuring Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and surprise performers 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak also picked up three prizes including Variety Special (live), Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special.
Other winners included the Schmigadoon! song Corn Puddin’, which won Outstanding Music and Lyrics over Zendaya’s Euphoria song I’m Tired. The White Lotus won Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special, as well as Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music. Severance won Outstanding Music Composition for a Series.
