‘Love, Lizzo’ Documentary Release Date Announced
Love, Lizzo – the forthcoming HBO Max documentary following the superstar – has now got a release date. It will arrive on the streaming platform on 24 November.
According to press materials, Love, Lizzo will explore “the journey of a trailblazing superstar who has become the movement the world desperately needed just by being herself.” The film will chronicle “the inspirational story behind her humble beginnings to her meteoric rise with an intimate look into the moments that shaped her hard-earned rise to fame, success, love and international stardom.”
“Growing up I never dreamed I’d get to experience all of the things I’ve accomplished in my life, and I’m just getting started,” Lizzo added in the press release.
She added, “I’m so excited I get to share and relive my journey with my fans and HBO Max. From Cuz I Love You to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album Special, y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat and tears that went into this process. It takes 10 years to become an ‘overnight success,’ and hopefully I can inspire other young creatives to keep going.”
Love, Lizzo is directed by Doug Pray, executive producer of HBO’s Dr Dre/Jimmy Iovine documentary The Defiant Ones. The documentary follows the making of Lizzo’s second album, Special, which she announced with the single About Damn Time in April. Since then, she has performed and hosted Saturday Night Live and joined Harry Styles during his Coachella set.
In September, Lizzo made history when she became the first person to play US president James Madison’s historic crystal flute at a Washington DC concert. Earlier that month, Lizzo’s Amazon Prime Video reality series Watch Out for the Big Grrrls took home Emmys for Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program (Nneka Onuorah) and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program.
