Morrissey And David Bowie’s Live T.Rex Cover To Be Released This Month
David Bowie and Morrissey’s live cover of the T.Rex song Cosmic Dancer is to be officially released later this month.
While the performance has been widely circulated since they performed together at The Forum in Los Angeles in 1991, it will get its first official release on Friday 13th November, when a digital download of the song will be made available, and it will also be available on streaming services.
Fans wanting physical copies will have to wait till 19 February 2021, when a 7″ single will be released. The vinyl single will feature Bowie and Morrissey performing Cosmic Dancer on one side, while the other features a rendition of The Jam’s That’s Entertainment. A statement issued by Morrissey on his website states that, “it is not the version generally available on the internet from 1993.” Instead, it appears to feature new instrumental with the original Morrissey vocal.
Similarly the live recording of Cosmic Dancer has been newly produced by Boz Boorer.
The artwork for the single was prepared by Darren Evans and features photographs on the front and back record sleeve, taken in New York City by the photographer Linder Sterling.
In a fitting tribute, T.Rex were the first band Morrissey saw perform live, in June 1972.
Fans will be able to pre-order the 7″ vinyl version of the single on 13th November, ahead of its release in February 2021.
