Muse Play 220-Capacity Exeter Homecoming Show
Muse have played a tiny homecoming show at Exeter’s 220-capacity Cavern Club, a venue where they’d played early gigs in the 90s.
According to Devon Live, Muse ran through a special 45-minute set as they filmed a new promotional video – ahead of the release of their upcoming ninth studio album, Will Of The People.
The band posted a photograph of themselves in the Cavern dressing room on Instagram with the caption, “Thanks Exeter Cavern for having us for the 33rd time! So great to be starting the tour here where it actually all started.”

SeeTickets ran a ballot to win tickets for the show. To enter the ballot, fans had to pay a £5 compulsory donation to War Child UK, the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. SeeTickets said the donation would go towards helping children affected by the war in areas such as Ukraine and Yemen. The donation was charged to entrants’ cards if they were successful in the ballot.
The Cavern Club has hosted some of the biggest bands of recent years. The 220-capacity live music venue and nightclub was launched in 1991. It has hosted bands including Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, Idlewild, La Roux, Maximo Park, Scouting for Girls, Kaiser Chiefs, The Cranberries, The Bluetones, Shed 7, Mumford and Sons and many more.
Pippa and Dave, the Cavern owners who first booked the band at the venue, were in attendance – as was Dennis Smith, the owner of Sawmills studios where Muse recorded a lot of their earlier material.
