Oasis Set For UK No 1, US Tour Rumours
Oasis are set to return to the top of the UK album chart this week with their classic debut Definitely Maybe.
Sales of the new 30th anniversary edition of the album, which includes previously unreleased demos from the group’s original Monnow Valley and Sawmills Studios sessions, have contributed towards the album looking likely to hit the top of the charts. To date, Definitely Maybe has spent a total of 556 weeks in the Top 100.
Meanwhile, according to the midweek charts, the band’s 2009 greatest hits compilation Time Flies… (1994-2009) is expected to go up a place to No 2, and their second album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?, is currently at No 5. The band’s B-sides compilation The Masterplan looks set to jump 63 places to No 35, while their third album, Be Here Now, is currently at No 37 in the midweek charts.
Noel and Liam Gallagher are also in the running for next week’s Official Number 1 single, with their 1994 hit Live Forever currently at No 4, behind a trio of Sabrina Carpenter hits. Wonderwall (No 8) and Don’t Look Back In Anger (No 7) are also expected to return to the Top 10.
Oasis have also sparked rumours that US dates could be on the way in a new electronic billboard from Amazon Music that’s appeared in the US. A caption alongside the recent new image of Liam and Noel read: “If we need to put up a billboard to get these guys to come to the States, here it is.”
