Pink Floyd Reunion? ‘Dream On’ Says David Gilmour
Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has spoken frankly about the chances of the legendary band reforming in a new interview with ITV News.

“Dream on. It’s not going to happen,” Gilmour said when asked the question. “There [are] only three people left and we’re not talking, and unlikely to. So it’s not going to happen.”
This follows Gilmour’s recent comments about his relationship with former Floyd frontman Roger Waters in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. “Well, it’s something I’ll talk about one day, but I’m not going to talk about that right now. It’s boring. It’s over,” the guitarist said.
“As I said before, he left our pop group when I was in my 30s, and I’m a pretty old chap now, and the relevance of it is not there. I don’t really know his work since. So I don’t have anything to say on the topic.”
Gilmour also reflected on whether bands like Pink Floyd would be given time to mature in the current music industry. “That was part of what was a golden age. There were a lot of record companies who had ideologies that involved them investing money in the futures of young, talented people. That doesn’t seem to be here right now in the same sort of way, unfortunately,” he said, reflecting on the struggles faced by new bands.
When asked what has changed, he answered: “Greed. Short-term thinking I suppose.”
Gilmour is currently ahead in the midweek charts for this week’s Official UK Number 1 with his latest solo album, Luck And Strange. If it stays the course, the album will be third chart-topper of his solo career following On An Island (2006) and Rattle That Lock (2015). As a member of Pink Floyd, Gilmour has a further six UK No 1 albums.
The guitarist has announced today (11 September) that he will perform two special rehearsal concerts at the Brighton Centre on Friday 20 Sept (evening) and Saturday 21 September (matinee).
First access to tickets – costing £30 each – will go to fans who order Luck and Strange from David’s UK Album Store – including those who’ve purchased the album from there already.
