Royal Blood have shared a teaser of a documentary for the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of their debut album.

The duo – comprised of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher – took to their official X/Twitter account to share a snippet of their documentary. “Come back in time with us on August 15th to see where it all began. Video by ‘Directedbymad’,” read their tweet. The post also features a link that directs you to their official YouTube channel, which features a video titled Shouting Through The Letter Hole that is set to premiere next Thursday (August 15) at 2pm.

The teaser features black-and-white footage of Kerr and Thatcher during their sessions recording their 2014 self-titled debut LP. “I was that kid making riffs all day in my bedroom pissing off the neighbours. You can imagine my excitement the first time I met Ben. I’d never seen anyone play drums like that before. Ever,” says Kerr in the clip.

Speaking to NME at the 2024 Download Festival about looking back at their debut album after 10 years, Kerr said: “It’s been good looking back. We’ve been prepping for these anniversary shows coming up but to be honest, there are only two or three songs off the debut record that we don’t play live pretty regularly. It really is still an album that we live and breathe every day. I think we’re just stoked that we still get to do this every day. That’s been the biggest take we’ve got from reminiscing about a decade ago.”

He also discussed how his perception of the album has changed for him after all this time, saying: “I think the album feels very similar to how it did back then to be honest. But it’s everything around it that’s changed very dramatically. I think going from the age of 22 and moving a decade on, that’s a transformative time in any human being’s life anyway! Let alone to be in this band and to have been on the road since the beginning. It’s weird seeing how so much has changed, but when it comes to the music, nothing has.”

Royal Blood released their fourth and most recent studio album, Back To The Water Below, last September. The record, which shot straight to No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart on release, is also notable as the first Royal Blood album to have been solely produced by the band themselves.
