Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon, Spice Girl Melanie C and former All Saints star Shaznay Lewis are the first performers announced for the Roundhouse Gala.
The hotly-anticipated Rise Up for the Roundhouse Gala is set to dazzle this year with performances from musical icons Simon Le Bon, Melanie C and Shaznay Lewis, just the first to be announced.
The star-studded biennial event held at the legendary Roundhouse raises vital funds for the venue’s work with young people. The calibre set by Melanie C, Simon Le Bon, and Shaznay Lewis, underpinned by their combined passion for the Gala’s cause, promises an unforgettable evening on Wednesday, 20 March.
Simon Le Bon, world renowned as Duran Duran’s lead vocalist and lyricist, has led the iconic British group through decades of global success. With over 100 million record sales and a 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the multi-Grammy, BRIT Award and Ivor Novello winners are one of the most successful and influential bands of all time.
Simon reflected on being approached by Trevor Horn, renowned record producer and Roundhouse Gala Chair, sharing in a statement: “Trevor Horn is someone I have enormous respect for, both as an artist and a man, so when he called and asked if I would come and sing at the Roundhouse Gala I immediately agreed. The money we raise on the night is going to a great cause, and I’m really happy to be doing something to help young people.”
Melanie C adds: “This was an unmissable opportunity for me, as it’s more than a performance – it’s a celebration of the arts and a commitment to nurturing our creative community. I’m hoping this will be the most successful year yet for supporting the talented young individuals entering the doors of the Roundhouse.”
Shaznay Lewis also said: “My years in the music industry have shown me its transformative power time and time again. The impact of sharing space with a like-minded community can hold weight for a lifetime. I’m truly looking forward to coming together for a night of music, art, and making a difference to young lives.”
The Roundhouse young creatives programme engages 8,000 young people each year, offering access to creative opportunities and affordable studio space that can ignite a passion, develop skills or pave the way for creative careers.
All funds raised from the Gala contribute directly to the Roundhouse’s non-profit mission to change young lives through the arts. The 2022 Gala raised an incredible £1.2 million. Visit the event’s official website for further information.
