Strictly 2022: Kate Bush Soundtracks Halloween Week
Strictly Come Dancing reached its Halloween episode last night, featuring a dance soundtracked by the Kate Bush hit, Running Up That Hill.
Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu did the Argentine tango to the Hounds Of Love track, which enjoyed phenomenal success earlier in the year after it was used in the Netflix show, Stranger Things. The dancers were dressed in vampire outfits in keeping with the spooky them of the show.

Judge Shirley Ballas said: “There was drama and there was passion, and there’s was everything in between… You came back, and you were determined to give it, foot-by-foot, a really strong performance… I loved it.”
Anton Du Beke was a little less positive, adding “This particular dance lacked a bit of intensity to make it an absolute showstopper… You’re really, really good. I just want the next level.”
Craig Revel Horwood was booed by the studio audience when he commented, “I felt like you were dancing two different dances.”
Motsi Mabuse rounded things off on a more positive note, “I don’t know what’s up with the boys, because we girls, it loved it. Absolutely.”
Dancer Molly was teary when she said after the performance, “I had such an amazing time out there. We definitely were nervous. Having that taste of almost going home has been so awful.”
Her mentor Carlos added, “I have never been more proud of her. She showed something she had never shown before.”
The scores from the judges were mixed (Craig: 6, Motsi: 9, Shirley: 9. Anton: 9) but with a total of 33, the couple ended up joint third on the leader board. They got 30 points the previous week, and they were joint third on the leader board, but still ended up in the dance off, when they beat Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer to stay in.)
Elsewhere, among the other Halloween-themed dances, actress Kym Marsh and her partner danced the rhumba to Madonna’s Frozen.
