Teddy Swims Challenging Noah Kahan For UK No 1
Teddy Swims is currently second to Noah Kahan in the race for UK No 1 single. Lose Control, which is taken from Teddy’s debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part One), has been rising steadily up the charts since debuting in the Top 40 six weeks ago. Kahan’s Stick Season has been on top of the charts for the last seven weeks.
In a new interview with Official Charts, Teddy discussed hte inspiration for the single, “The song itself is about a situation I found myself in, I was sinking down from a bad relationship I was in. I wasn’t taking care of myself. It got really co-dependent. I wanted to leave but I just didn’t know how to. When I did leave, it was the best thing for both of us. You can love somebody so much that it’s not good for you anymore.”
He went on to talk about the new material he’s working on, ” I’ve been writing a lot, but haven’t started putting everything together yet. I just like writing and writing and writing [and see what comes out of it]. It’s all going to fall into place. I just hope that it’s a little less on the heavier side! Not just songs about heartbreak. But who knows, I might get my heart broken again! I’ll be honest without fail either way.”
When asked whether he felt pressure to follow up Lose Control, he was in a positive frame of mind,”I’m confident that I’ll have plenty more. I know that I’ve got this. What’s so good [about the success of Lose Control], is that I know I can trust my gut. I’m glad I knew [what the song was capable of] and went with it. I heard it and was like, yeah, this could change my life.”
