Watch The Video For Twenty One Pilots’ New Single, ‘Backslide’
Twenty One Pilots are back with new music and they have shared the music video for their new single Backslide, which you can watch below.
The Backslide video shows frontman Tyler Joseph purchase a bag of hamburger buns from a convenience store. The singer then rides his bike through a storm back to drummer Josh Dun, only to realize he needs to do the errand again, in a scenario reminiscent of the film Groundhog Day. The video was also filmed by Dun, who is making his directorial debut.
The Backslide clip also includes a Stranger Things-style segment where Joseph appears to be transported to an alternate, dark universe where he rides his bike in a black void amid swirling leaves as well as a quick stop a child’s lemonade stand where the seemingly possessed grade schooler chants lyrics back to the singer.
Backslide is the third single to debut from Twenty One Pilots’ forthcoming album, Clancy. In a video message to fans earlier this week, Joseph revealed that Clancy, originally scheduled for 17 May, will be delayed a week to 24 May to allow the group to film videos for each of the collection’s 13 songs. “It’s because I love these songs and I believe in them enough to pretend to sing in front of a camera to each one,” he said. To date, the duo have released the singles Overcompensate and Next Semester.
Twenty One Pilots will promote Clancy with a new world tour that begins on 15 August in Denver and concludes on 14 May 2025 in London.
